Conductor Ingo Metzmacher makes best use of a two-month break from his intensive activities as General Music Director and Artistic Director of the Hamburg Opera this Spring with major appearances throughout Europe and the United States. He begins with a special Carnival programme with the Munich Philharmonic followed by several concerts with the Vienna Symphony at the Musikverein. He then launches into a dramatic programme with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (Stravinsky, Zimmermann and Scriabin) before immediately making his debuts with the Boston Symphony and Pittsburgh Symphony as well as returning to the Minnesota Orchestra. On his way back home he makes his second appearance this season with the London Philharmonic at the Royal Festival Hall in a programme that includes Ades' Asyla and Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben.
